Three Rivers, CA
Today the weather was foggy and wet. We still decided to go to the Sequoia National Park. The park entrance is only 10 minutes from our Airbnb. However, the Giant Sequoias are located at the top of the mountains which is about one hour drive on a small tortuous road. The park ranger told us that we couldn’t go to the top without snow chains. We still decided to check out the road as far as we could and we finally made it to the top where the fog was extremely dense. Luckily there was just a little snow and we could hike on the Big Trees Trail. After a few hours the fog totally disappeared and we could really enjoy and admire these huge trees. We then took the car again to check out the famous General Sherman tree. By volume, it is the largest known living single-stem tree on Earth. It is estimated to be around 2,300 to 2,700 years old. On our way back to our Airbnb, we enjoyed an amazing sunset above the clouds. It was spectacular.
