Otter Rock, OR
We started the day with a beautiful walk on the beach located a few feet away from our Airbnb. This area is called the Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area. This park is a popular whale watching site and displays an intriguing geology. The punch bowl (on the 3rd picture) was probably created by the collapse of the roof over two sea caves, then shaped by wave action. The beach itself is incredible and looks pretty much untouched. A few surfers were jumping in the cold water and the kids seemed to enjoy this huge sandy playground. We then decided to check out the Newport Sea Lions Docks a few miles away. This was again a hit with the kids. They loved it even though these creatures are extremely grumpy and stinky. We ended the day at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse to catch the last light of the day. The views were stunning.
